The following countries are rated by the risk of kidnap, ransom and extortion threat against foreign nationals from the West residing or traveling in the country listed. Zones are rated by best to worst in terms of expatriate and traveler safety and security. The list does not take into account theft or minor crime rates.
- ZONE 1: Almost no risk for foreign travelers other than the risk all large cities have for foreign nationals and travelers alike of any nationality:
- Austria, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mongolia, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, & the United Kingdom.
